Aston Villa are celebrating their promotion to the Premier League after beating Derby County 2-1 on Monday afternoon.

Villa headed back to Wembley to take on Derby County, a year since losing the Championship play-off final to Fulham under Steve Bruce.

Villa are a different animal under Dean Smith though, and after beating West Bromwich Albion in the semi-finals, his side were favourites in the final.

Winger Anwar El Ghazi headed Villa in front from Ahmed Elmohamady’s cross, and John McGinn bundled home a second after the break to put Villa in cruise control.

Jack Marriott pulled one back for Derby, but Villa managed to hang on, and can now celebrate a return to the Premier League after three years away.

Villa fans are still celebrating now, but so are the players, and star man Jack Grealish took to Twitter today in order to praise goalscorer El Ghazi, offering just two words on the Dutchman’s display – ‘unplayable today’.

Tyrone Mings mocked Grealish, noting that it would have been impressive if El Ghazi had played again today, with Grealish joking that he couldn’t even spell his own name after the promotion celebrations, never mind know what day it is.
