Aston Villa star Jack Grealish has questioned whether he can be credited with an assist after Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka scored his first international goal last night.
Saka latched on to a loose ball and slotted home from a tight angle to give England victory over Austria.
Grealish has some involvement in helping the Arsenal man score, but is unlikely to be credited with an assist anywhere.
The Aston Villa man was blocked off from hitting the back of the net by an Austrian defender, before the ball trundled into the path of Saka.
And it seems that Grealish was keen to share some of the Arsenal youngster’s glory.
He jokingly wrote on Instagram: “Do I get assist?”
Before Saka responded: “Sure bro” with a Pinocchio emoji, to suggest he was lying.
In the comments Saka was also praised by the likes of Jesse Lingard, Tyrone Mings and Miguel Azeez.
Deserved reward
It was quite the moment to crown a brilliant week for the Arsenal prospect.
Saka has now been officially confirmed in England’s Euro 2020 squad, which is a deserved reward for his form at the Emirates Stadium this season.
Saka has been one of the shining lights in a disappointing campaign for Arsenal, and he is now starting to prove that he can perform on the international stage too.
