West Ham United loanee Joe Powell made a devastating impact in his latest appearance.

Jack Collison has joined a number of fans in lauding Joe Powell on Twitter after the West Ham loanee scored a stunning winning goal in the 88th minute in Northampton Town’s latest game.
Powell has struggled to get into the Cobblers’ starting lineup of late. He has been a substitute for the club’s last three games as they went into Tuesday’s clash with Newport County looking to make it four wins on the bounce.
It appeared that that winning run was going to come to an end as the game reached the 86th minute still goalless. But Keith Curle decided to throw on Powell in the hope that the midfielder could make something happen.
However, it is unlikely that Curle could have imagined that the substitution would turn out as well as it did as Powell unleashed a superb volley from just outside of the penalty area two minutes later that flew into the roof of the net to settle the game.

It was an outstanding reminder of Powell’s potential, and the Hammers ace will be hoping that it may be enough to get him back in the starting lineup for their trip to Grimsby on Saturday.
It was enough for Collison to suggest that Powell had outshone Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick for Juventus in the Champions League, while fans of several clubs were also full of praise for the strike.

Here is Collison’s tweet as well as some of the other reactions to the goal…
