Colback swapped Sunderland for Newcastle back in 2014.
Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback has told the Chronicle he has no regrets about joining Newcastle, and considers it the player’s duty to return the club to the top flight.
Colback joined his hometown club in the summer of 2014 on a free transfer from fierce rivals Sunderland despite being relegated with the Magpies, while the Black Cats retained their top flight status.

The 27-year-old is now in his third season at the club and he feels it would have been a question of what could have been had he not made the switch.
He told the Chronicle: “I have no regrets and if I didn’t come here I would have always thought: ‘What could have been’.
“This is my hometown team and I would never try to change it.
“As players when you get relegated as a club you have a duty to get the club back up.
“We have had new players coming in who are helping the cause as well. It’ll be a great feeling to do it.”

Despite back-to-back defeats in the Championship over the course of the past two weeks, Newcastle remain on track to seal promotion to the top flight at the first attempt.
They are currently a point clear of Brighton in second place, and are six points clear of those in the promotion places but they will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend when they face Birmingham City.
Colback arrived at the club when it seemed as if it was the end of an old project, but he seems to be an important part of Rafa Benitez’s plans as the Spaniard rebuilds the club – having made 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
With players of the Premier League experience of Colback, and the degree of ambition that Benitez has for the club, it might be a case of short term pain for long-term gain for the midfielder.
