Newcastle United have lost four of their last eight games, to slip into second place in the Championship table.
Jack Colback has admitted to the Shields Gazette that some Newcastle United players can find Rafael Benitez’s training sessions boring at times.
Benitez has such a thorough approach that training can be stop-start at Newcastle, with Benitez keen to look into every fine detail.
And although Colback claims that the Spanish boss’s style is necessary, the midfielder has suggested that it can get a little monotonous for some players, who prefer a more action filled approach.
“It’s not uncommon that a manager will stop an XI v XI training session to sort out tactics,” Colback said.
“Some players find that boring because they just want to play five-a-side, 100 miles an hour.
“But it’s what needs to be done and he makes sure he does it. He repeats similar things because if you keep repeating things you’ll improve.”
Newcastle’s form has dipped in recent weeks, and they have lost their command on top spot.
At one stage, Newcastle were threatening to run away with the Championship.
However, the Magpies have lost four of their last eight matches to allow Brighton & Hove Albion to overtake them.
Newcastle still have a six point lead over third placed Reading, but they will be eager to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
Newcastle are next in action tomorrow, when they take on Brentford at Griffin Park.
