The Leeds United youngster is tipped to have a bright future.
Last month, former Leeds United defender turned agent Ian Harte took to Twitter to praise his young client Jack Clarke, telling Whites fans that he is one to watch. And anyone who took the famous full-back’s advice will have seen the teenager net a hat-trick for the club’s under-18s last week.
Clarke is a natural goal-scorer who is currently on a scholarship deal at Elland Road, and if he continues on his current trajectory it is only a matter of time before he gets a first-team chance at Leeds.
Clarke’s latest heroics came in a 5-2 victory against a Sheffield Wednesday side that had gone 2-0 up in the encounter and proved categorically that he is a player for the big occasion, refusing to accept defeat and ensuring his side not only won but won well.
Leeds brought in a number of talented teenagers from abroad over the summer as part of Victor Orta’s master plan, but it is still a couple of English lads that are attracting plenty of excitement in the form of Clarke and Jamie Shackleton.
Leeds have rich history of giving youth a chance and, while Whites manager Thomas Christiansen is currently putting his faith in more experienced faces, leaving players such as Ronaldo Vieira and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson to wait patiently for their opportunities, he may not be able to ignore a player like Clarke in a few years.
For now he continues to score for fun for Leeds’ under-18s but once he starts doing that for the second string, expect more people to sit up and take notice.
