Jack Clarke will stay at Leeds United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur next season.
Clarke signed a permanent contract with Tottenham earlier in the summer transfer window, but the winger will stay at Leeds on loan for the 2019-20 campaign.
According to BBC Sport, Spurs paid the Whites £10 million as transfer fee for the 18-year-old, who can also operate as a forward.
The teenager has explained his decision to stay at Elland Road on loan for the 2019-20 campaign, and he has also admitted that next season will be tougher for him.
Clarke told The Yorkshire Evening Post about staying on loan at Leeds: “It wasn’t a matter of where I would be playing.
“It was a matter of not feeling like I deserved to go after the way we finished the season. I felt like it wasn’t right for me to go. I feel like we’ve got a job to do.”
The winger added: “Last year it was obviously a lot easier being an unknown prospect with people not knowing how I play.
“This year everyone knows what I’m about and what I like to do. It will obviously make things a lot more difficult but I’ll have to find ways to get around it.”
Playing an important role
The 2018-19 campaign was Clarke’s breakthrough season, as the winger made four starts and 20 substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
Next season the youngster will hope to play a more important role and feature more regularly, and one suspects that Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa will give him more responsibility.
