Jack Clarke has admitted to Leeds United’s official website that it never felt right leaving Elland Road after last season.

Clarke joined Tottenham Hotspur from Leeds today, but he has been promptly loaned back to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The young winger will now spend the rest of the season at Leeds and he is glad to have a chance to right the wrongs of last campaign.

“It was a no brainer to come back and the option was always there,” Clarke said.

“I think it will be a lot better for my progression to spend another year here and I didn’t feel right leaving with how last season finished.”

Leeds ended last season by losing in the play off semi-final to Derby County.

Bielsa’s men had a grip in a top two spot for much of the season, but their form after January dipped and they just couldn’t get over the line.

Clarke will be hoping to play a key role at Leeds next term to help his temporary side into the Premier League, before he joins up with his Tottenham teammates for the first time next season.

Clarke is highly regarded by Spurs, with Pochettino’s side paying £8.5 million (Sky Sports) to bring him to White Hart Lane.
