Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland has given a positive update on his injury progress on Twitter, much to the delight of Potters fans.

The England international posted this message on his Twitter account highlighting his clearly imminent return to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines:

Butland has not played for Stoke City since the 19th March win against Watford, so has been on the sidelines for nearly 12 months.

He suffered a serious injury whilst on international duty with England just a week later. The Stoke goalie fractured his ankle making a clearance during a 3-2 England win over Germany. He suffered a setback to the problem in December but it now seems, after one year, he is on the brink of a comeback for Mark Hughes side.

This will undoubtedly please the Welshman. Stoke have been using Lee Grant between the sticks for most of the season and the 34-year-old has done well during his time in goal for the Potters.

But Butland is a prodigious talent that Stoke fans will be hoping can be a future England and club star.

Hopefully he can get back out on the pitch in no time at all.
