Jack Aitchison has suggested that Celtic veteran Kolo Toure has been a big influence in his development, and suggested that the defender has called him one of the best he has seen, the Evening Times reports.
Despite only making two first-team appearances for the Hoops, Aitchison is a name that all Celtic fans will remember extremely fondly given his record-breaking end to last season.
His appearance against Motherwell saw him become the Hoops’ youngest ever player, and he celebrated the achievement by becoming their youngest ever goalscorer in the same game, as he found the back of the net with his first touch.
While he has featured just once this season, it appears that the 17-year-old is continuing to impress. And he disclosed just how great an impression Toure has made on him.

“It’s good to be involved with big names who have done a lot in their football careers. I can make the most of their experience to improve my own game. From a defensive point of view, Kolo tells me where to stand and move. He’s played in some of the biggest games in football with and against some of the biggest names like Thierry Henry,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.
“He told me I was one of the best he’d seen so that gives me the belief I can go quite far.”
Aitchison may perhaps turn out to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of Celtic wrapping up the Scottish Premiership title so early – they could do it in their first game following the international break – as Brendan Rodgers may perhaps be more willing to hand some of the younger players a chance.
Once the title is wrapped up, Rodgers may switch much of his attention to making sure that they secure the Scottish Cup, and thus, may rest the likes of Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths for their league games.
That may present Aitchison with the chance to show exactly why Toure – who has undoubtedly played with many fantastic players throughout his illustrious career – has such high hopes for his future, and ranks him amongst the brightest talents he has seen.
