Leeds United have been linked with the Reading boss but he seemingly has no intention of moving to Elland Road this summer.
Jaap Stam’s agent, Henk Timmer, has been talking to Voetbal International about the links between his client and Leeds United.
According to a recent report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Reading boss was on Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani’s short list to potentially replace Garry Monk. However Timmer has quickly moved to quash the latest links.
“There is a lot of interest in Jaap from English clubs and elsewhere in Europe,” he told Voetbal International. “but he is loyal to Reading.
“The club has given him a chance in English football. If a big club in the Premier League knocks it might be a different story. But as it stands Jaap wants to finish his job at Reading.”
That will come as another blow to Radrizzani as he strives to get a new manager in prior to pre-season training.
Monk dropped a huge bombshell earlier this summer when he resigned after just one year at the helm, and while Leeds ultimately fell short in their promotion push big things were expected with the right additions this summer.
Before Leeds can think about new additions in terms of playing staff, they need to conduct managerial interviews and bring in yet another new face, who is already behind schedule when it comes to transfer business and plans for the upcoming campaign.
Targeting Stam was always ambitious and so it has proved, with Leeds’ search continuing and fan frustration growing by the day.
