Could former Hull City and Watford manager Marco Silva return to English football with Championship giants Leeds United? Paul Heckingbottom is under fire.
Paul Heckingbottom has only been Leeds United’s manager since February but the 40-year-old is already under huge pressure at Elland Road and it is uncertain whether he will still be in a job by the time next season kicks off.
Heckingbottom has come in for serious criticism from Leeds supporters not only for some rather underwhelming performances but for a series of dreadful results too. He has won just three of 15 games, with Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Norwich City meaning he has lost over half of his matches as the Whites’ manager.
Despite failing to keep Hull City in the Premier League last season and being sacked by Watford in January after a dramatic decline in results and performances, Silva remains one of the most coveted young tacticians in Europe.
The 40-year-old guided Sporting Lisbon to their first trophy in seven years back in 2015 and cruised to the Greek title with Olympiakos, breaking a 21st century European record by winning 17 consecutive league matches along the way.
Interestingly, Sky Sports claimed that Silva was a popular name among the Leeds board back in February when the club decided to part ways with Thomas Christiansen, while fans have clamoured for owner Andrea Radrizzani to show some ambition and appoint one of Europe’s most promising coaches.
