Izzy Brown and Pontus Jansson clashed when Leeds United met Huddersfield Town in 2017.

Brown’s arrival at Elland Road was perhaps a surprising deal for some given that he was previously on loan at Huddersfield. And, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, he was playing for the Terriers in the 2017 game against Leeds which saw Garry Monk and David Wagner clash and spark a brawl seemingly between everyone in the two squads and backroom teams.
Brown’s involvement saw him square up to Jansson after the Swede took exception to Wagner’s reaction. And while the 21-year-old admitted that the two had a discussion about the incident following his move to Leeds, he claimed that the pair have had no problem putting what happened in the past.
“We spoke about it in the changing room,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“On the pitch you fight for what you believe in. It happens in football but we’re cool, there’s no problem any more. And I’d forgotten how big he was.”
As Brown says, the incident obviously did not need to cause any long-term ill-feeling. It was the final moments of a derby involving two promotion-chasing teams, so it is no surprise that emotions boiled over.

The pair have cleared the air. But Brown could certainly make himself even more popular in Jansson’s eyes by continuing his comeback and helping Leeds in their current promotion charge.
The Chelsea ace is making his way back to full fitness and it seems that it may not be too long before he is on Marcelo Bielsa’s radar. So perhaps it may also not be too long before the pair are celebrating a crucial goal together.
