Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is into the Euro 2020 final after helping England beat Denmark on Wednesday night.
Phillips played the full 120 minutes as the Three Lions claimed a 2-1 extra time victory over Denmark, with Harry Kane’s winner setting up a final clash with Italy.
Gareth Southgate’s faith in Phillips was clear as he took off Declan Rice rather than the Leeds star, and he can expect a start in Sunday’s final.
Phillips celebrated on the pitch after the final whistle, and was even seen wearing an England shirt with ‘Granny Val’ on the back.
Val Crosby, the late grandmother of Phillips, became a fan favourite with Leeds supporters during the Amazon documentary series on the club.
‘Granny Val’ sadly passed away earlier this year, but she has been remembered throughout Phillips’s rise to stardom, and last night’s tribute was another touching moment.

Phillips will of course be emotional, and he received a message of support from former Leeds teammate Izzy Brown.
Brown, who recently joined Preston North End, tweeted a photo of Philllips wearing his England shirt with ‘Granny Val’ on the back accompanied with ‘that is all’ as Brown highlighted the importance of Phillips’s tribute.
