The on-loan Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Josh Onomah has tweeted his Leeds United counterpart Izzy Brown, after the Chelsea owned player made his long awaited comeback on Friday. Brown – an England Under-21 colleague of Onomah, who is borrowed by Wednesday from Tottenham Hotspur – has last appeared in January 2018 for Brighton and Hove Albion.

But the 21-year-old played the first 45 minutes of Leeds’ U23s’ defeat against Birmingham City earlier this afternoon.

He tweeted afterwards: “10 months out, first 45 mins back out there! It’s never felt so good to be on a pitch. Thank you so much for all the positive energy in such a difficult time, it’s appreciated! #lufc #mot

And Onomah replied:

Both Brown and Onomah left their parent clubs in the summer transfer window, with the Chelsea and Tottenham pair each signing season-long deals at Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

The former has been tipped for a New Year return by the Leeds manager, Marcelo Bielsa, while the latter could be facing his own spell on the sidelines.
