Leeds United star still could play a big impact.

Leeds Uniteds Izzy Brown warms up during the Sky Bet Championship match between Middlesbrough and Leeds United at Riverside Stadium on February 9, 2019 in Middlesbrough, England.

It’s fair to say Leeds United’s loan deal for Izzy Brown has yet to pay off.

The next two weeks could be crucial in changing this.

Leeds signed Brown on loan from Chelsea for the season, knowing it would take him a long time to bounce back from injury suffered while at Brighton last year.

It has now been 13 months since Brown started a competitive fixture.

He has been a regular for Leeds’ under-23s, used only once by Marcelo Bielsa off the bench.

Brown now has an important fortnight in which to convince Bielsa he should play a bigger role.

Leeds struggled to break down Sheffield United at the weekend. Despite totalling more than 70 per cent possession, they lost 1-0 at Elland Road.

It was crying out for Brown at his best, but the attacker missed the game through illness. After playing 120 minutes for the under-23s in midweek, he probably would not have been selected anyway.

Leeds now have a two week break during the international fixtures.

Brown must use this period to really knuckle down and prove to Marcelo Bielsa that he deserves to play a prominent role.

When Leeds signed him, they would have had the final few weeks of the season eyed up as the time Brown made his impact felt.

There’s still time for the plan to fall into place.
