Is Izzy Brown really getting anything out of Leeds United Under-23 games at this point?

Chelsea's Izzy Brown celebrates scoring their first goal of the game

Marcelo Bielsa is a regular viewer of Leeds United’s Under-23 side this season.

And if he watched the Whites’ youth side in action today, he must surely realise that Izzy Brown is too good for that level and must start using him regularly.

Brown, on loan at Leeds from Chelsea, barged his way through a few soft challenges and slotted home the opener at Watford this afternoon.

It was a good goal, but a stupidly-easy one for the 22-year-old, who didn’t bother celebrating.

He has had only nine minutes of senior action during what’s been an injury-ravaged season at Elland Road, but surely it’s time for more first-team football.

Fitness is obviously important for Brown, but he has been consistently fit for well over a month now and at this point you wonder what he has to gain from Under-23 outings.

Playing against teenagers is far too easy for a midfielder who earns £25,000 per week at Chelsea [Spotrac] and maybe Bielsa will make him a fully-fledged senior player soon.

Brown, an unused sub in the 4-0 win over West Brom last Friday, should be hoping for minutes against Bristol City this weekend as promotion-chasing United look to take another step closer to the Premier League.
