Chelsea-owned youngster Izzy Brown has taken to Twitter to express his delight at playing for the Leeds United Under-23 side against their Newcastle United counterparts on Friday evening.

Brown, who joined Leeds on loan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, featured for the Whites’ Under-23 side against their Newcastle counterparts in the Premier League Cup at Whitley Park.

The 21-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder, forward or winger, played 80 minutes of the match, which Carlos Corberan’s side lost 2-0.

The former West Bromwich Albion striker is delighted to have played 80 minutes, as the former England Under-20 international makes his recovery from a long-term knee injury.

Patrick Bamford did not start the game, but the 25-year-old forward played for the second 45 minutes.

Bamford, who joined Leeds from Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window, was making his first appearance since picking up a posterior cruciate ligament injury back in September.
