It doesn’t look like Nikola Vlasic wants to go back to Everton.

Ivica Olic has told Ria Novosti that Nikola Vlasic would prefer not to come back to Everton this summer.

The 21-year-old midfielder impressed on a season-long loan at CSKA Moscow last season, netting eight goals in total – including three in the Champions League.

Vlasic, a £10 million signing by Everton in 2017 [BBC Sport], is due back on Merseyside for the club’s pre-season preparations.

But Toffees boss Marco Silva doesn’t appear to have a lot of use for the Croatia international, and Olic reveals that his compatriot has personally told him that he’d prefer to stay with CSKA.

The former Bayern Munich hitman told Ria Novosti: “Nikola told me that he wants to stay at CSKA if he has the chance. He is very happy how things are going in Russia for him, he loves life there.”

It’s probably fair to say that Vlasic has flopped at Goodison Park. The former Hadjuk Split star only managed 12 Premier League appearances during his debut season, barely playing once Ronald Koeman – who brought him to Goodison – was sacked.

If Everton can get a good price for him then you wonder whether Silva would happily take it and use the money to reinvest elsewhere.

It looks like Vlasic and his parent club might be happy enough to part company.
