Jordan Henderson told Sky Sports News on Sunday that he has told his Liverpool teammate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, to ‘rest, recover and take his mind off football’.
The Liverpool academy product was hoping to take part in this summer’s Euro 2020, but injury against Austria last week ruled out those chances.
It means that Henderson will be the only Liverpool representative for England this summer.
But given the body-blow news that Alexander-Arnold received about his injury last week, Henderson shared that he has spoken to the right-back and what he needs to do.
“Listen, Trent will be fine,” said Henderson. “He’s a strong character. He’s a young lad and will have many more tournaments ahead of him.
“Of course, he’s disappointed. He has done ever so well during the last few months of the season in terms of performance level. I think he’s been outstanding.
“So, he will be disappointed. But I have told him to go and ‘rest, recover and take his mind off football for a few weeks and come back in pre-season ready to go again’. And I am sure he will.”

A lot was made of Trent’s situation with England because many were worried that Gareth Southgate was going to leave him out of his 26-man squad.
But the attack-minded fullback got the nod as one of four right-backs selected by Southgate, at the time.
And whilst one player receives the bad news that they won’t be going to a major tournament, another in Ben White will be headed to his first after he was named as Trent’s replacement.
