Mohamed Elyounoussi has admitted that he has spoken to Fraser Forster about the big goalkeeper returning to Celtic this summer.
Both joined the Hoops on season-long loans from Southampton last year but only one has returned so far.
Elyounoussi signed up for another temporary stint at Celtic this week but it looks like it’ll be harder to convince Forster.
According to The Scottish Sun, the 32-year-old, a £10 million signing from the Bhoys back in 2014 [The Guardian], has done a u-turn and is now prepared to fight for his future with the Premier League club.
And Elyounoussi is hopeful that the England international signs on for another year at Parkhead.
He told BBC Sport: “It would be great for us to have him here another year. But we just have to wait and see what he decides to do. I have talked to him. He’s not sure yet what he is going to do. Hopefully he comes back here.”
Does a Celtic return make sense? Absolutely, yes.
If he stays with the Saints, there’s a good chance that Forster might not play a single minute of Premier League football, whereas re-signing for Neil Lennon could see him make history in 11 months.
Lennon’s side are going for 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row and after beating Rangers by 13 points last term, there’s no reason why they won’t achieve that feat come next May.
Forster was a huge part in winning their ninth successive title and surely the chance for 10 should appeal to him.
