Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Glenn Murray has been chatting about Conor Gallagher and his exceptional form for Crystal Palace.
Gallagher has arguably been Palace’s Player of the Season so far, but sadly, he’s only at the Eagles on loan.
Inevitably, his brilliant performances have led to speculation about his future and a permanent move to Selhurst Park, but according to Murray, the higher-ups at the club believe his performances are pricing them out of a move.
What’s been said?
Murray shared the details of a conversation he had with the higher-ups at the London club.
“I’ve spoken to the hierarchy at Crystal Palace about this and they were cursing how well he was doing at one point because he’s basically pricing them out of a move. He’s irreplaceable, can I see him leaving Chelsea permanently? No I can’t especially with what’s going on at Chelsea. Opportunities will arise there. Can I see him going back to Palace? Only in a loan capacity,” Murray said.

Too good
Gallagher has been exceptional for Palace this season, and that’s the problem, he’s almost been too good.
Upon his return to Chelsea, the Blues will likely want to keep him, and even if they do sell him, he’ll probably move for a fee that would be eye-watering for Palace.
However, we shouldn’t underestimate Palace’s spending capacity. Let’s not forget, this is a club that paid £32m for Christian Benteke and paid Max Meyer £170,000-a-week. Palace aren’t financial powerhouses, but they’re also no small fry either.
Unfortunately though, Gallagher may prove to be just out of their price range, but as Murray says, a second loan move could be on the cards.
