Speaking on BT Sport’s coverage of Leeds vs Tottenham (8/5/2021 11:30AM), Rio Ferdinand has made a claim about Leeds United next season.

The former Whites defender was speaking about reports claiming that Marcelo Bielsa will stay at the club next term, and he says that the club will recruit and get better next season, claiming that he’s spoken to Andrea Radrizzani about Bielsa and the club’s plans.

“The fans will be delighted, when you speak to any player down there they love him (Bielsa). Yes he’s intense and yes he’s unique in the way he does things, but you see the results. They’ve shown that they’re more than capable of staying up in this league, and they’ll recruit and they’ll improve, I’ve spoken to the chairman here, and they love him (Bielsa) man, even the dinner ladies here love him man,” Ferdinand said.

This is certainly an exciting claim.

The fact that Ferdinand believes Leeds will go on a recruitment drive after having a conversation with Radrizzani is telling, and the fact that Bielsa is likely to stay is incredibly exciting.

Of course, it remains to be seen how Leeds get on next season, but if Ferdinand is right about this, next season could be a big one at Elland Road.
