Dinamo Zagreb star Mislav Orsic has played down talk linking him with a summer switch to Premier League giants Arsenal, speaking to Sportske Novosti.

The Croatian international has been here before, of course.

In January 2020, Orsic looked certain to leave his homeland for a big-money move to England. Slaven Bilic’s West Brom side made a flurry of bids but, after failing to meet Zagreb’s demands, Orsic had no choice but to stay at the Stadium Maksimir.

So while Arsenal may be interested some 15 months on, according to The Times (26 March, page 66), could history be about to repeat itself for the late-blooming 28-year-old?

“Okay, about that then … Don’t you remember last season?” Orsic said when asked if this will be his final season in the Croatian capital.

“It was the same, (I was the) top scorer, everything was great, and in the end I stayed at Dinamo. I have signed a new contract and I will certainly not go just to leave.

“Eventually, it could be that some club that might present me with a new challenge. We will see what will happen.”

In all competitions, the explosive Orsic has scored 21 goals this season, cutting inside from the left to devastating effect.

Three of those came during that famous Europa League victory over Tottenham Hotspur too, with the Zagreb-born attacker scribing himself into Croatian folklore with a stunning hat-trick against Jose Mourinho’s side.

The £13 million-rated Orsic is already something of a cult hero at the Emirates, then.
