Speaking to Off The Ball, Phil Thompson has been discussing Fabio Carvalho after he made his Premier League debut for Liverpool.
The young midfielder joined the Reds this summer, and it’s fair to say that there is an element of excitement around this young man.
At the age of just 19, Carvalho looked like one of the best players in the Championship last season, and there’s reason to believe that he’ll only kick on from here.
Thompson is convinced that the teenager will become an absolute star, stating that he’ll shock everybody this season with his performances.
What’s been said?
Thompson raved over Carvalho.
“The boy Carvalho is going to be some player by the way,” Thompson said.
“Because of his age and because he’s so young you would think that, but you have a year in the Championship that is a tough league. I’ve seen enough of him at Fulham, I didn’t watch all of the games, but what he brings as much as goals are his assists. That’s what people look at. Yes, you can help people with those, but you need to have it a la David Beckham and that’s what Carvalho is, he’s going to be a star, he will shock everybody.”
Good enough
Carvalho may only be 19, but based on his performances for Fulham last season, he’s good enough to make a real impact for Liverpool.
He only came off the bench at the weekend, but he immediately looked the part in the Premier League, and with a bit more luck, he’d have scored a fantastic volley.
Carvalho is such a talent, he’s full to the brim with confidence, while his ability is there for all to see.
This is a player who will make waves this season, and he may well catch a few fans and pundits off-guard with his showings.
