Heerenveen technical director Ferry de Haan is aware of speculation linking Rangers with a move for £11 million midfielder Joey Veerman, speaking to Voetbal International.
Beating Serie A giants Atalanta to the signature of a hugely talented midfielder while paying a club-record transfer fee in the process?
22-year-old Veerman has blossomed into one of the most influential footballers in the Eredivisie during the past 12 months or so.
And, according to VI, Scottish champions Rangers are battling not only Atalanta but PSV Eindhoven and Ligue 1 outfit Reims for his much-sought signature.
Heerenveen have yet to receive a single bid so far, however, even if De Haan is no stranger to the speculation swirling around his star man.
“I have, of course, read all that,” he said when asked about reported interest from the likes of Rangers. “But no party has yet come forward.”

Speaking earlier this month, former Ibrox hero Michael Mols admitted he’s a big fan of the technically gifted Veerman, hailing the Dutchman’s passing range and quality in possession.
The question is, does Veerman have the required physicality to thrive in the hustle and bustle of the Scottish game? Mols has his doubts about that.
Then again, Ianis Hagi is no muscle-bound brute and he has managed to earn a place in Steven Gerrard’s plans.
Veerman may be short on brawn – but there’s no lack of brains.
