Ian Wright wondered who Cristiano Ronaldo would displace in the Manchester United line-up, throwing Bruno Fernandes into the equation.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Wright wanted answers to his Ronaldo-themed questions.

After all the fanfare and media publicity surrounding his romantic return to Old Trafford, to leave the Portugal captain out of the starting XI would be a PR disaster.

Not to mention an unwise tactical decision, considering he is arguably the greatest goal scorer of a generation.

And an unrivalled winner of trophies, a trait United have been lacking ever since Sir Alex Ferguson bid farewell to footballing management.

Ronaldo would still walk into any team on the planet, despite his age suggesting a downturn in physicality and performances.

But CR7 is not your average player.

If, or rather, when the 36-year-old establishes himself in the side, another gifted international will have to make way.

Ronaldo in, who’s out?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been handed a very healthy headache to cope with, but which medicine is the right antidote to take?

“It’s going to be interesting to see where he plays,” said Wright on Ronaldo’s eventual re-inclusion.

“Who’s coming out of the team? Who’s sacrificed for him? Where’s (Paul) Pogba going to play?

“Him (Ronaldo) and Bruno Fernandes, I’ve not seen it when they’ve played for Portugal and saying, ‘wow, that link up looks amazing’.

“How’s that going to affect Mason Greenwood, who is just about to turn supernova? Someone is going to have to miss out along the line.

“I’m not leaving Pogba out of that team.”

Some might raise a few eyebrows at Wright’s suggestion that Ronaldo and Fernandes may struggle to form a partnership.

After all, they are compatriots, members of Portugal’s talented squad.

But the former Arsenal striker was correct in saying the pair have never quite clicked on the national stage.

Yet, removing Fernandes out of the picture would be blasphemy.

He was one of, if not the, main reasons behind United’s rise in form and recuperation from their once rotten state of affairs.

The midfielder made the impact Solskjaer will hope Ronaldo can produce, just with more silverware.

Then who is dislodged? Pogba and Greenwood have warranted their positions, whilst Jadon Sancho is yet to have a proper stab at the action.

It’s now over to you, Ole.
