Rangers need a big night in Glasgow next week.
The Gers lost their first Champions League qualifier 2-1 away to Malmo in Sweden on Tuesday night.
But Steven Davis grabbed a potentially massive away goal for Rangers in the dying minutes.
The Swede are set to experience something of a cauldron at Ibrox because it could be the first time since March of 2020 that the light Blues fans have sold out the famous stadium.
Davis’s goal gives Gerrard’s troops more than a fighting chance and the manager – who delivered a Premiership title last season – has called on the club’s supporters to help them claw back this deficit en route to the next round of qualifiers.
He told Rangers’ website: “I am going to call on the Ibrox crowd – I have never done it before, but we are going to need them next week for a full 90 minutes and in full voice and with that behind us, and the mentality change in injury time, it could be a big moment.”
Big chance
It would take a very, very brave man or woman to write off Rangers’ chances of turning this tie around in Scotland.
Even if the Gers were leading 4-0 going into the second leg, Ibrox would still be absolutely hopping because of the occasion, with almost 51,000 set to pack inside the stadium.
But the fact that the Premiership champions need a win is only going to add to the atmosphere and you wouldn’t want to be a Malmo player in six days.
