Ally McCoist has stated that he has ‘never been so wrong’ about Granit Xhaka at Arsenal and how he has transformed his career, as he told talkSPORT.
As soon as Mikel Arteta was walking through the doors at Arsenal after replacing Unai Emery in 2019, Xhaka was heading towards the other direction.
It was clear, his time was up as an Arsenal player after a very public falling out with the fans during that infamous game against Crystal Palace.

But that’s when Arteta worked his magic, got the player back on side, made him part of his plans, and despite struggles in between, he is now a key player for the current Premier League table-toppers.
Former Scotland international Ally McCoist admitted he thought ‘the party was over’ for Xhaka, but the 30-year-old has proven him wrong.
“I have never been more wrong in my life,” said McCoist. “I honestly thought that the party was over. I thought it was over for him.
“I just couldn’t see that there was any way back.”

XHAKA TO LIFT THE PL TITLE?
The aim for Arsenal still has to be to secure Champions League football, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the fans are dreaming of much bigger things now.
Either way, if Xhaka’s transformation in Arsenal colours is a shock, then him possibly lifting the Premier League title would be an even bigger shock, that’s for sure.
It’s still early days, but if the Gunners beat Wolves at the weekend, then they will be top of the Premier League tree on Boxing Day, and it has been a long time since that has happened.
