Virgil van Dijk has got some Liverpool fans talking on Twitter.
The big Netherlands international hasn’t kicked a ball for the Reds since October after suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Coincidentally, it came against Merseyside rivals Everton, who Liverpool welcome to Anfield this weekend.
Van Dijk has been absent for the past four months but it looks like he is making steady progress in his return to full fitness.
The former Southampton stalwart returned to continue his treatment at Liverpool’s training ground earlier this month.
And Van Dijk has now posted footage of him completing some knee exercises with a fluency and speed that has some fans of the Merseyside club quite excited.
It’s been previously reported that Van Dijk might return before the end of this season – and Jurgen Klopp might need him.
Despite being reigning Premier League champions, Klopp’s side are battling for a top-four spot this season after falling 16 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.
If Liverpool – who have one foot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League – are still in Europe by April and the Dutchman is close to returning, the German coach might well weigh up the risks and benefits of him coming back.
