Speaking on the Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Gary Lineker has been discussing Antonio Conte and his personality on and off the pitch.
Conte is one of the most passionate and animated managers you’re likely to ever see in the Premier League. He’s always screaming and shouting at his players, and Heung-Min Son says he’s exactly the same in training.
However, Lineker has spent some time with Conte away from football, and he says that he’s a completely different person off the pitch, claiming that he’s sweet and soft-spoken
What’s been said about Conte’s personality?
Lineker spoke about his impression of Conte.
“Antonio Conte, he’s one of those. I’ve met him and he’s really sweet and soft-spoken, but on the touchline. I remember him saying to me, he just completely turns into a different person,” Lineker said.

Competitive
Lineker says that Conte is completely different away from football, and that’s not too surprising to hear.
So many professional athletes and sportsmen have to get into ‘the zone’ in order to be successful, and that’s why people can seem completely different when they’re playing.
In boxing, Deontay Wilder says he transforms into ‘the Bronze Bomber’ whenever he steps into the ring, and it seems as though Conte turns into a more loud and outspoken individual whenever he steps foot onto a football pitch.
To be fair to Conte, this style of management has worked for him so far. He’s been successful at almost every single club he’s been at, and his Spurs squad seem to react well to his instructions on the touchline.
