Some Tottenham fans on social media have been reacting after a piece co-wrote by Fabrizio Romano in The Guardian claimed that they’re not willing to pay Atalanta’s €55m (£47m) asking price for Cristian Romero.
Romero is reportedly Tottenham’s top centre-back target, and he’s even supposedly agreed personal terms with the London club, but it seems as though there is still some negotiating to be done before he will join Tottenham.
As you can imagine, Spurs supporters had plenty to say about this update, and it’s fair to say they’re not happy.
For far too long and far too often, Spurs have missed out on top players because of things like this. The likes of Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes and Paulo Dybala have been so close yet so far from signing for Spurs, and it seems as though Romero could sadly follow in their footsteps.
Of course, Tottenham could still manage to negotiate the price down or even come up with a more favourable payment structure, but right now, things don’t sound great.
Here’s what the Spurs fanbase have been saying about this report on social media…
