Speaking on Football London’s Periscope, journalist Chris Wheatley has shared what he knows about Ben White’s potential move to Arsenal.
White has been strongly linked with Arsenal for a number of weeks now, with the Gunners reportedly putting two offers in for the Brighton centre-half, but as of yet, we’ve not had any official confirmation on the deal.
Wheatley says that things haven’t moved on since that bid was agreed, and while he’s heard whispers that Brighton may want more than £50m for the defender, he doesn’t see Arsenal parting ways with that much cash for the England international.
However, despite Wheatley hearing talk of Brighton wanting more than £50m, he does expect this transfer to get over the line.

Wheatley shared the latest on White’s situation.
“As far as we know it hasn’t move from the bid being agreed as far as we know with Brighton. I’ve heard some talk that they want more than £50m, but I don’t think Arsenal are going to go above that. They want the player, clearly, but I think Ben White is probably worth the money Arsenal are offering, but no more. I haven’t heard of any other teams in for him at the moment, but I do expect that deal to be completed, because all parties, especially Ben White and Arsenal, they want the deal to be done,” Wheatley said.
Edging closer
We’ve not heard anything official about White, but it seems as though it’s edging closer.
Perhaps this one will accelerate further once the Euros are over and White is released from England duty.
Wheatley says that he expects the deal to be done, and he’s usually spot on with this type of thing.
Fingers crossed Arsenal can get this one over the line, because they need a centre-back through the door as soon as possible.
