A former Italian football has revealed that he has spoken to Antonio Conte – and that the Tottenham Hotspur manager is ‘thinking about leaving’.

Tottenham suffered a fourth Premier League defeat in five outings in midweek by losing 1-0 away to Burnley.

Under Conte, the Lilywhites beat Manchester City 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium last weekend but it would appear as if that was only a false dawn.

Major problems still exist at Spurs – and the 52-year-old arguably added to them with an explosive post-match interview.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan coach almost invited chairman Daniel Levy to sack him after pulling no punches in his assessment of the scale of the job in North London.

And according to former player Massimo Brambati, Conte is indeed considering a shock departure from North London.

He told TMW Radio: “He’s thinking of leaving. He would like to stay at home, let’s say. It takes time, and maybe he realised that there’s a margin beyond which he can’t go with certain players. He made a wrong assessment. I’ve heard from him; he’s disappointed with a situation he expected to be different.”

Is Antonio Conte leaving Tottenham?

Well it looks very possible and Tottenham supporters will be very concerned.

Conte’s interview was worrying enough, but the fact that the smoke hasn’t really settled yet – according to Brambati – is also very scary if you’re a Lilywhite.

This is undeniably a world-class manager and one who Tottenham need to keep happy.

Everyone has known this since the moment he took the job, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo, but it would appear that, at the moment, Conte and Spurs is just a massive mismatch and leaving does look possible.
