Chris Sutton has told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport ‘I have heard’ that reported Tottenham and Everton target, Danny Ings, could be ‘leaving’ Southampton this summer.

But instead of potentially joining interested parties, Spurs and Everton, Sutton shared that the 28-year-old speedster could be heading to Manchester instead.

The 28-year-old has one year left on his current Saints deal – and he either pens a new contract or they cash in on the player this summer because they would financially lose out by Ings leaving for free in 2022.

And whilst Everton and Spurs fans would love a player of his qualities at their club, Sutton shared some bad news that he could be heading elsewhere.

“There’s talk about Danny Ings leaving,” said Sutton. “He could end up at Manchester City or Manchester United.

“There are all sorts of rumours flooding around the Norfolk area, but that’s what I have heard. And how could they (Southampton) possibly replace him?”

If Tottenham are to move forward and persuade their seemingly wantaway stat, Harry Kane, to stay then signing Ings would be intent.

Yes, Kane would play ahead of him which would reduce his game time, but Spurs have been crying out for depth in quality and a top-quality squad for them to seriously push forward. And this would be it!

But even when Spurs were flying, Daniel Levy didn’t invest in the squad as much, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if fans are expecting the same to happen again.

As for Everton, whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had an outstanding campaign, the same cannot be said for the rest of their attackers, as they need another re-think in the market this summer.
