Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club posted a tweet showing Matt Targett’s statistics in the Premier League this season.
The £11.5 million man is enjoying a fine campaign for the Villans this term, starting all 26 of the club’s Premier League games.
As Villa’s tweet shows, he has racked up an impressive amount of defensive actions this season.

On this note, it’s no surprise at all that Villa can boast the second-best defence in the Premier League this term.
Dean Smith’s men have recorded 14 shutouts, a tally bettered only by Manchester City who have amassed 15 clean sheets.
As one fan alludes to, there were times last season where some might’ve felt a new left-back would be required at Villa Park.
However, it’s to Targett’s credit that he has come on leaps and bounds this season.
Not to take anything away from the ex-Fulham man, but his life has probably been made easier by the arrivals of Matty Cash and Emiliano Martinez.
Aside from that, however, his individual numbers have been exceptional.
With the way things are going, you wouldn’t be surprised to see him named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad this summer!
