Chris Sutton has predicted that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United will beat Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League this weekend.

The former Chelsea striker has said on BBC Sport that the Magpies will pick up all three points from the match against the Red Devils courtesy of a 2-1 win.

Newcastle are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 47 points from 26 matches.

Eddie Howe’s side are two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have played 28 games.

Meanwhile, Manchester United currently find themselves third in the standings with 50 points from 26 games.

Chris Sutton predicts Newcastle United vs Manchester United

Sutton wrote: “I’ve been wrong about Manchester United a few times this season but I don’t think their form has been that great recently, whatever their results have been like.

“They were very fortunate to recover to beat Fulham in the FA Cup last time out, and that was not the only time recently where they got away with it a bit – they have not been at their best for a while.

“It would still not surprise me at all if Erik ten Hag’s side went to St James’ Park and won but this is an enormous game in the fight for the top four and I am expecting Newcastle United to rise to the occasion.

“I like the way the Magpies play and, although they have not always turned that into goals, they’ve had more of a cutting edge since Alexander Isak returned to full fitness. I have a feeling the Sweden striker will make the difference again here.

“Sutton’s prediction: 2-1.”

Who will win?

In our view, the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Manchester United will end in a draw.

Both Newcastle and Manchester United are doing well at the moment, and there is a chance that they will cancel each other out.

While the Magpies have won their last two Premier League matches, the Red Devils have won two of their last five league fixtures.
