In one of the most bizarre stories of the year, Harry Redknapp has emerged as a potential contender for the Leeds United job.
According to The Mirror, Redknapp has signalled that he’s open to taking over at Elland Road, and after six years out of the game, the 75-year-old could be back in a Premier League dugout.
Of course, rumours regarding Redknapp always come alongside discussion about which players he will sign.
Redknapp, more than any other manager, had his trusted lieutenants during his managerial career with the likes of Niko Kranjcar and Jermain Defoe following him to numerous clubs.
One of Redknapp’s favourite players from his heyday was Peter Crouch, and the 42-year-old striker has joked that he’s been training and is ready to sign for Leeds if Redknapp gets the job.
Of course, Crouch is only joking, but it wouldn’t be surprising at all if Redknapp did in fact go out and sign a few of his old favourites if he got the Leeds job.
After six years out of the game, there aren’t too many players still playing who Redknapp knows all that well, but we’re sure the 75-year-old could sniff out a deal or two if he got back into the game.
Whether or not Redknapp does get the job remains to be seen, but this would be one of the most staggering managerial moves we’ve seen in recent years if he does.
Crouch may not be headed to Leeds, but his joke just serves to highlight how ridiculous this rumour truly is.
