Speaking on his YouTube channel, Goal journalist Charles Watts has shared what he’s been told about Arsenal and Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with the Anderlecht midfielder in the past weeks, and it seems as though this move is edging closer and closer to being completed.
However, it seems as though Lokonga may not be the answer to the Gunners’ midfield prayers, with sources telling Watts that he’s seen as more of one for the future.
What’s been said?
Watts shared what he knows about Lokonga and Arsenal.
“This bid is apparently a lot closer to what Anderlecht want, but they still need to get the clauses done, get the exact structure of the deal made up to suit all parties, but it seems as though this is one that is edging closer and closer to completion, which will be a big boost for Arsenal because they really like Lokonga and Edu and Arteta are very keen on him,” Watts said.
“See I’ve been told when I’ve been speaking to people about this that he’s very much seen as one for the future, but that doesn’t mean he’s not going to go into the first-team. When Guendouzi signed he was seen as one for the future, but he went straight into the first-team because he impressed so much in pre-season.”

Another signing?
If this is true, we have to ask, will Lokonga be Arsenal’s only midfield signing?
We know that the Gunners want to strengthen in the middle of the park, but if Lokonga is seen as one for the future, then could there be someone else coming in?
Well, Yves Bissouma has been strongly linked with a move to north London, so that’s one that could be on the cards, and with Granit Xhaka reportedly on his way out, it’s hard to imagine the Gunners not moving for another first-team midfield option.
