Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has shared some insight into Liverpool’s plans this season and he’s delivered an interesting update on two of the Reds’ brightest young players.

Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho are both seen as future stars at Anfield, but according to Jones, they may well be stars of the present too.

Indeed, Jones says that he’s been told that the two teenagers are very much in Jurgen Klopp’s plans, stating that he’s heard that the pair will get more chances to play than many are expecting.

What’s been said?

Jones shared what he knows about Elliott and Carvalho.

“Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho have both been given chances to impress and I’ve been told to expect both of those to get more minutes than you might expect for players of that level coming into a side that will be challenging in Europe and in the Premier League,” Jones said.

Good enough

Elliott and Carvalho aren’t the most experienced players in this Liverpool squad, but they’re certainly two of the most talented.

Elliott would have started so many games last season had he not picked up that horror injury against Leeds, while Carvalho showed last season in the Championship just what he is capable off.

These two former Fulham men have an abundance of talent, they’re two of the brightest young players on the planet right now, and it looks like they’re going to be given the platform to prove themselves this season.

Carvalho and Elliott are certainly two to keep an eye on in the coming weeks, and who knows? Perhaps both could feature against their former club this weekend.

These two aren’t due to hit their prime for half a decade yet, but they’re developing at an incredible rate and it sounds as though they’ve already earned Jurgen Klopp’s trust.

Alan Hansen once said that you won’t win anything with kids, but Carvalho and Elliott will be trying to prove that old adage wrong at Anfield this term.
