Stan Collymore has written in CaughtOffSide that he has been told that Mason Mount could leave Graham Potter’s Chelsea for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool striker has said that he has been told by reliable people that a potential move for Mount from Chelsea to Premier League rivals Liverpool is “very much on”.
The pundit believes that the England international midfielder would be a very good signing for Liverpool.
Earlier this week, The Mirror reported that Liverpool are leading the race for the 24-year-old star.
An earlier report in The Daily Mail claimed that Liverpool are determined to sign Mount and are pushing hard to get a deal done.
Contract talks between Mount and Chelsea are not going well.
The Englishman is on £80,000 per week as salary, and he reportedly wants £240,000 per week.
Stan Collymore on Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Liverpool
Collymore wrote: “I’ve been told by two very reliable people, one of which being a person who knows Mason Mount personally, that his rumoured move to Liverpool this summer is very much on!
“It’s already being discussed within both clubs. There is a lot still to decide though, particularly at Chelsea.
“There will be a lot of outgoings and probably some more incomings so a lot will depend on what the club decides to do but the fact they’re already talking about the possibility of letting Mount go says a lot.
“As for the type of player Mount is, I think he’d fit in really well at Liverpool. He’s a high-energy, high-work-rate midfielder that can play anywhere on the left side of a central three.
“He’s also an England international with plenty of experience winning silverware, including the Champions League. He has a really good relationship with both Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham too, which I know is a big plus for Liverpool.”

Exciting
In our view, Stan Collymore’s inside information on Mason Mount is hugely exciting for Liverpool fans.
Mount is one of the best English midfielders around, and he is the kind of dynamic player that Liverpool need in the middle of the park.
The 24-year-old is a regular for England and is hugely experienced already.
Mount would be able to make an immediate impact at Liverpool and make them better and more solid in midfield.
However, Chelsea are unlikely to sell Mount on the cheap.
