Thierry Henry has stated that he has been saying ‘for a very long time’ that Liverpool’s Sadio Mane is a ‘special’ player, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (28/05/22 at 7:30 pm).

The legendary striker praised the Liverpool forward for what he has done this season, including the success stories for his home nation.

Senegal lifted their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations crown in February, with Mane scoring the crucial spot-kick in the nerve-racking penalty shootout against Egypt.

Then, he guided his country to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, once again, at the expense of Egypt and his Liverpool teammate, Mo Salah.

Added with the two domestic trophies he won and helping the Reds reach the Champions League final, Henry was full of praise for the ‘contagious’ Mane.

“What he is doing this season,” said Henry. “Winning the Africa Cup of Nations, for the first time for Senegal.

“Then qualifying against Egypt (for the 2022 World Cup), which was difficult.

“I have been saying for a very long time that this player is special. From his Southampton days. When he was playing for Salzburg and Metz.

“He’s very good. His work rate. The way he galvanises the team. He is contagious.”

IS THIS THE END FOR MANE AT LIVERPOOL?

When Mane leaves Liverpool, he can hold his head up high and proudly state that he has ‘won it all’ on Merseyside.

Whilst Liverpool fans would have been hoping to see more of the versatile attacker, it seems as though he will leave the club this summer.

There are suggestions that Bayern Munich could be his destination, as Mane sets for a new adventure in his career.

He’s won every single trophy possible and he could possibly claim that he leaves Anfield having etched his name into the club’s greatest-ever XI.
