Speaking to Optus Sports, Alan Shearer has been making his mid-season predictions, and he’s been praising Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners have enjoyed a good first half of the season, despite the fact they were rock bottom of the league after three games.

Indeed, the London club sit fourth in the table, and their young stars are shining, with the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli producing a number of brilliant moments.

Shearer has been very impressed by Arteta and the way he’s handed the Gunners’ season so far.

What’s Shearer said about Arteta?

The Newcastle legend had praise for Arteta, but despite this, he still tipped Tottenham to finish above the Gunners.

“I’d probably have to say Man City will win the title, I don’t think anyone will beat them. Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and I’ve been really impressed with Arteta at Arsenal and how he’s handled things, but with Conte going into Spurs with Harry Kane and Son at Spurs, I think I’ll say Spurs in fourth position,” Shearer said.

Revolution

Shearer doesn’t think Arteta will get Arsenal back into the top four this season, but he does recognise what a good job the Spaniard is doing.

Arteta is spearheading something of a revolution at Arsenal. The Gunners have the youngest squad in the league, and these players are shining.

The Gunners’ faith in young players is paying off, and if these stars continue to develop at the rate they have been, it may not be long before we’re talking about Arsenal as one of Europe’s superpowers once again.
