Garth Crooks has stated that he has changed his mind about the ‘unplayable’ Mo Salah, after being ‘critical’ of the Liverpool forward last season, as he told Final Score.

The BBC pundit claimed that, during the previous campaign, Salah was seemingly playing for himself and ‘chasing the Golden Boot before the season had finished’ for Liverpool.

Salah is now regarded as the best player in the world, at this moment in time, and someone who is ripping everyone to shreds, both in the Premier League and in Europe.

Added with scoring more than a goal a game, Salah also has five assists to his name, and like Brighton did at the weekend, it’s some achievement if you stop him from scoring.

Crooks shared what he didn’t like about Salah last season and how he is Lionel Messi-like now.

“I have been critical of Salah, towards the end of last season,” said Crooks. “I felt he was chasing the Golden Boot award, before the season had finished, and it made him look a poor player.

“This season he is back playing to his best. Playing for the team. Doing all the right things. And his goals are coming as a consequence.

“He is absolutely outstanding. I don’t think I have seen a player as exciting as this since probably Messi was having two or three seasons ago. He is that good. He is almost unplayable.”

Even though Liverpool dropped points at the weekend, one thing that can’t be ignored is the number of goals they are scoring.

They aren’t just beating teams, but well and truly putting them to bed, especially on the road.

So, even if Jurgen Klopp’s side drop-off, they will still pick up the points, it’s just a case of games will be nervier for the supporters.

As for Salah, he would have been annoyed that he didn’t score at the weekend, but it’s going to take something to keep him off the scoresheet for the Atletico Madrid game on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
