Newcastle United are said to be considering selling Ivan Toney in the summer.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United are prepared to listen to offers for Ivan Toney, and that could be good news for Adam Armstrong.

Armstrong and Toney have been directly compared against each other, with the pair both spending time out on loan in League One.

Toney and Armstrong have both been considered potential first-team players for the future, but it seems that the former could be on his way out at St. James’ Park.

And that could make it easier for Armstrong to break into Newcastle’s first-team.

Although Toney was not exactly blocking his route, the comparisons were there to be made between the duo.

But with Toney gone, Rafael Benitez would be able to concentrate purely on Armstrong’s development.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers, and he is scoring prolifically at League One level.

Whether he could cope with the step up to the Premier League remains to be seen, but Newcastle do need to find a striker.

The Magpies have not found a regular scorer this season, so if Armstrong could reproduce his goalscoring form at the top level next term, it would be a major boost for Benitez’s side.
