Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney has taken to social networking site Twitter to send a message after playing for the Under-23 team on Monday evening.
Toney featured for the Newcastle U23 side against their Darlington counterparts at The Northern Echo Arena.
The 21-year-old striker played in the first half, as Peter Beardsley’s side won 1-0 to kick off their pre-season on a positive note.
The former Northampton Town youngster scored for the Magpies, but the Englishman also failed to convert a penalty in the first half – it was saved by Peter Jameson.
Toney has taken to Twitter to send a message after making his appearance for the Newcastle U23 side, with the club’s fans responding to him on the social networking site.


Toney is a very talented and promising young striker, and he has a very bright future ahead of him.
The 21-year-old has made only a handful of first-team appearances for the Magpies, and he is probably not ready yet for Rafael Benitez’s side for the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
