Newcastle United-owned Shrewsbury Town forward Ivan Toney was impressed with David Edwards’s performance for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Queens Park Rangers.

Newcastle United-owned youngster Ivan Toney has praised Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder David Edwards on social networking site Twitter.

Toney, who is 20 years of age and plays as a forward, made the comments about Edwards during the Championship game between Queens Park Rangers and Wolves at Loftus Road on Thursday evening.

Edwards started the game in London and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Wolves 2-1. The 30-year-old former Shrewsbury Town and Luton Town midfielder scored on the hour mark.

Toney, currently on loan at Shrewsbury from Championship club Newcastle, was impressed with the way Edwards scored against Wolves.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Loftus Road on Thursday evening, hosts QPR had 56% of the possession, took 16 shots of which just three were on target, and earned seven corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors Wolves had 44% of the possession, took 15 shots of which nine were on target, and earned five corners, according to BBC Sport.

The Wanderers will return to action next weekend when they take on Fulham at Molineux in the Championship.
