Iva Jovic’s remarkable run at the Australian Open continued with a dominant victory against Yulia Putintseva.
The American teenager was on court for less than an hour as she dropped just one game against the Kazakhstani star.
Jovic, who has been backed by Novak Djokovic, will now play world number one Aryna Sabalenka for a chance in the Australian Open semi-final.
Iva Jovic matches Venus Williams feat at Australian Open

Jovic has made an impressive start to her time in Melbourne, dispatching Katie Volynets, Priscilla Hon, Jasmine Paolini and now Putintseva without dropping a single set.
The 18-year-old has become the youngest player to reach the last eight of the Australian Open without dropping a set since Williams did so in 1998.
Williams had defeated Alexia Dechaume-Balleret, Serena Williams, Amelie Mauresmo and Patty Schnyder on her way to achieving the same milestone 28 years earlier.
There is a slight warning sign for Jovic though. Williams lost at the next stage against top seed Lindsay Davenport, falling in three sets.
The young American will also be one of three US players in this year’s quarter-finals, joining Coco Gauff and either Madison Keys or Jessica Pegula. Jovic is certainly holding her own among an impressive field.
Iva Jovic fulfils childhood dream against Aryna Sabalenka
Jovic has been viewed as a future star of the WTA Tour for some time now, especially after her breakthrough win at the Guadalajara Open back in September.
The 18-year-old has always set high expectations for herself, and she’s about to live out one of her biggest aspirations at this year’s Australian Open.
During an interview on Christian’s Court in 2025, Jovic was asked who she most wanted to face on tour. Without hesitation, she picked world number one Aryna Sabalenka. “I think that would be an unbelievable matchup,” she said at the time.
