Some Liverpool fans on social media are far from happy after it was reported by De Telegraaf that Donyell Malen is likely to be headed to Borussia Dortmund.
The Dutch attacker has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, but it seems as though the Reds may be set to lose this transfer tussle, much to the frustration of the fanbase.
To be fair, we can absolutely understand why fans are disappointed with this news.
The PSV ace looks like a ready-made star for Jurgen Klopp’s system. He’s absolutely rapid, he’s a great finisher and he has fantastic movement.
However, Dortmund are one of the most alluring clubs in the world for a young player these days, and it seems as though he could be headed to Germany rather than back to England.
One fan compared this situation to Timo Werner snubbing them for Chelsea last term, and after Werner helped the Blues towards a Champions League, it has to be said that the Reds may be regretting losing that battle now.
Liverpool certainly need a new attacker through the door this summer, but it seems as though the Reds won’t be able to secure Malen’s signature.
