Leeds United winger Jack Harrison has revealed to The Daily Mail that he has a ‘special relationship’ with Frank Lampard.

Harrison re-signed for the Whites on another season-long loan from Manchester City.

Eighteen months ago, the 22-year-old joined the reigning Premier League champions from New York City FC, the Sky Blues’ partner club, and was formerly a team-mate of Lampard’s in Major League Soccer.

He and Lampard were on opposite sides of a rivalry last season as the Chelsea boss – then at Derby – masterminded the victory that saw Leeds dumped out of the playoffs in May.

Harrison told The Daily Mail: “I feel like I can talk to Frank about anything. ‘I’ve had a really special relationship with him. A special bond.

“People come and go in this game, lose contact, but with him it’s something more than that. He’s been an idol for me. It’s weird. I have to step outside the box every now and then to think about it.”

A lot of United fans don’t like Lampard as a result of the rivalry between him and the Elland Road club last term, much of which stems from the Spygate saga in January.

He was the manager who many fans loved to hate, but the supporters will have to find a new villain this season after the Chelsea icon returned to West London in a managerial capacity this summer.

Harrison was among the goals as Leeds kicked off their Championship with a bang, winning 3-1 at Bristol City today.
